Description:

The Houston Geological Society Skeet Shoot is an annual event that has been held every summer since 1983. We normally attract around 125-150 participants, many of whom are senior decision-makers from a wide variety of operating companies or come from vendor companies that provide oil field services and supplies.

A major attraction of the HGS Skeet Shoot is the rich array of door prizes we offer through the generous donations of our sponsors. Unlike many other industry-sponsored shooting events, we keep the HGS Skeet Shoot fun for shooters of all abilities as we award the largest proportion of our prizes on a raffle basis so that all participants have an equal chance to win. In a typical year, twelve shooters will win trophy belt buckles, at a total value of approximately $600, for their shooting.

This tournament is a 50-target event. Shells are provided. Shooters are required to use eye and ear protection. Gun Club and National Skeet Shooting Association safety rules are in effect. Trophy-winning shooters are determined by the Lewis class system. Door prizes are awarded by blind drawing after the conclusion of the shooting. All competitors, who are automatically entered into the door prize drawing, must be present at the time of the drawing to win. BBQ lunch is provided from 11:30 to 1:30. Refreshments are available throughout the tournament.
