Launching Our New Digital Front Door 

Dear HGS Members, 

This redesign has been a long time coming - and now, we are here. I am proud to share the launch this month of the Houston Geological Society’s newly redesigned website, a major step forward in how we connect, engage, and deliver value to our members, partners, and the broader geoscience community. This milestone reflects the commitment of two HGS Boards who recognized the need and worked together to bring this new website to its members. 

This new website is more than a visual refresh. It represents a thoughtful investment in accessibility, functionality, and connection. As our profession continues to evolve, so too must the ways we engage, communicate, and provide value to our members. Our goal was simple: create a modern, intuitive platform that makes it easier for you to access the resources, programs, and opportunities that define HGS.

Whether you are registering for events, exploring technical content, connecting with committees, or learning about ways to get involved, the new site is designed with you in mind. We have streamlined navigation, improved mobile usability, and created clearer pathways for members, students, and prospective geoscientists to engage with our Society.

Importantly, the new website also strengthens how we tell our story. It highlights the depth of our technical programming, the impact of our outreach and scholarship efforts, and the vital role our volunteers play in sustaining this organization. It is a platform that better reflects who we are today - and where we are going.

This launch would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of our website working group, volunteers, and staff who contributed their time, ideas, and expertise to bring this vision to life. Their work ensures that HGS remains a relevant, accessible, and valuable resource for our community.

Now, I encourage you to take the next step: visit the new website, explore its features, and make it part of your regular HGS experience. Register for an upcoming event, discover new resources, reconnect with committees, or find a new way to get involved. Your engagement is what brings this platform to life.

As with any new platform, this is just the beginning. We will continue to refine and expand the site’s capabilities, and your feedback is essential. Let us know what works well and what potentially doesn't, what could be improved, and what you would like to see next. Your input will help us continue to improve and ensure the site meets the needs of our diverse membership.
